How to Sign Up for Class
When should I take the class?
THINK AHEAD! *Students signing up for Driver Education right now or who will be in a future class, plan on the process (class, range, and road) taking at least 6 months or months to finish all three requirements. We apologize about this. Thanks for your patience. Sign-up for class after you turn 15. Ages 15-18 can take the class. You must have your Learner Permit to sign up for and take the class. Again, it's recommended you take the class as soon as you turn 15 years old and you have your Learner Permit. AGAIN, IN ORDER TO SIGN UP FOR A CLASS YOU HAVE TO HAVE A NON EXPIRED LEARNER LEARNER PERMIT. How long does the Driver
1. PLAN AHEAD! We will try to get students through Driver Ed as quick as possible. From the start of class to the end of road, plan on the process taking close to or at least 6 months. Remember classroom requirements are 27 hours or 30 hours for on-line class. Range will take 12 hours. Road will take 6 hours (see the "Driver Education Requirements" tab for more info about requirements). Your Road Skills test will take place AFTER you complete your 6 hours of road, with another instructor, on another day. The state doesn't allow instructors to test their own road students.
With the time requirements and also 40-60 students going through the process at a time, unfortunately, it's not a quick process. PLAN AHEAD! 2. If your Learner Permit is going to expire and you are either in class or not have taken class, or are in a Range or Road session, re-new your permit. You must have a non-expired Learner Permit for range/road sessions and to get your license. Contact the DLD for information on how to re-new your Learners Permit. How do I sign-up for class?Step 1: PLAN AHEAD! Get your Learner Permit from the Utah Driver License Division by passing the Knowledge test. Click the "Learner Permit" link below for information on obtaining your Learner Permit. Here's a link to a practice knowledge test: dld.utah.gov/license-permit-idcard-cdl/learner-permit/
Step 2: Pay $100 to the Finance Office at Spanish Fork High School. After you have paid your fee and your learners permit has been copied, scan the QR coded provided by the Finance Office, and fill out the form to sign up for a class. Your $100 payment covers class, range, road, and your skills/road test. If you completed an online state approved class, you will pay $80 for Range/Road. Without scanning the QR code and filling out the Google form, you will not be able to attend/signup for a class. Please read the "Classroom" tab for more information about classroom requirements. The state has high expectations/requirements for driver ed. ****IF A MONTH TO TAKE CLASS IS NOT ON THE GOOGLE FORM WHEN YOU SIGN UP, THAT MONTH IS NOT AVAILABLE TO ATTEND CLASS. DO NOT REACH OUT TO THE CLASSROOM TEACHER AND ASK TO BE IN THAT CLASS. THE CLASS IS EITHER FULL OR THE SIGN UP PERIOD HAS PASSED.
3. The class roster will be placed on the Driver Ed website under "Next Classes".
4. Attend class at the assigned time, date, and location and pass with an 80% or higher. Range will take place AFTER students have passed the classroom portion of Driver Education. There is NO extra fee for students who took and passed class through SFHS for range and road sessions. Your $100 fee includes class, range, road, and your road/skills test. You CANNOT sign up for a range session unless you have completed driver ed class and your name is on the RANGE WAITLIST. Range offers students 12 hours of controlled practice time. Many of the maneuvers needed to perform on the Road skills test are practiced during Range. Read the "Range and Road" tab on the website for more information about range and road. *If you pay on-line for Driver Ed please stop the Finance Office so we can get a copy of your Learner Permit and the QR code to sign up for a class. *If we don't have a copy of your Learners Permit and filled out the Google form, you will not be in a class.
IT IS YOUR JOB TO CHECK THE DRIVER EDUCATION WEBSITE TO KNOW WHETHER OR NOT YOU'RE IN A CLASS, AND 0R RANGE. THIS IS OUR MAIN WAY TO COMMUNICATE. TENTATIVE Classroom Dates for the 2023-2024 School Year:
